Description
This teacup features the magnolia as its central motif, combining delicate cobalt-blue painting with Huashan’s distinctive underglaze white technique.
The branches are rendered through layered shades of cobalt, giving them a sense of age, strength, and vitality. Each magnolia blossom is first outlined in blue, then built up with underglaze white to create greater depth and a softly dimensional appearance.
The contrast between strong branches and luminous white blossoms brings together meticulous brushwork and naturalistic expression, capturing the quiet elegance of magnolia in bloom.
Each piece is individually refined and painted by hand, with a thin porcelain body and a smooth, jade-like glaze that balances artistic expression with everyday use.

Magnolia blossoms often appear before the branches are filled with leaves, opening into the cool air with a quiet and luminous presence.
The Ming-dynasty artist Wen Zhengming once described magnolias through imagery of radiant jade and gathering snow—a poetic reflection of their pure white beauty.
Huashan seeks to capture this same jade-like quality in porcelain.
Layered cobalt gives strength and character to the branches, while delicate blue outlines define each flower. Underglaze white is then built within the petals, allowing the blossoms to emerge softly against the blue.
The strength of the branches contrasts with the tenderness of the flowers; blue meets white, and structure meets softness.
More than a floral decoration, the composition captures a quiet moment when winter begins to give way to spring.
